Best PC for Working From Home
August 11, 2021
I’ve been meaning to write about this and it’s not because I want to promote a certain brand but because not everyone knows how to build a PC in terms of what Specs to look for and where to find good deals.
It’s even harder to build one right now due to the scarcity of supplies specifically with GPUs. I always suggest starting with an Intel i5-10400f, GTX 1660 Super, at least 16 GB ram, and of course 512GB NVME SSD. I don’t advise going for cards with RTX at the moment since most games don’t really utilize it and if ever a game does have an option for Ray Tracing, most gamers just turn it off to get the best possible FPS. Why pay more for something you won’t be able to use that much right?

I found a good deal for a prebuilt PC with the specs mentioned above. The Legion Tower 5i only costs ₱42,995 (8GB ram) in the Philippines or $899,99 (16GB ram) in the United States. You can probably find a cheaper one depending on where you’ll buy it but this is the cheapest I found. It already comes with a Legion mouse and keyboard which makes it an even better deal. Some may ask, why intel when you can go AMD. They do have an AMD counterpart which is the Ryzen 5 3600 (harder to find and the price seems to be higher). The i5-10400 have the same number of cores as the R5 3600. Performance-wise it’s pretty identical with the intel variant having a little bit more FPS
Good to know:
Comes with Intel® Wi-Fi 6 (2×2) + Bluetooth® 5.0
Windows 10 Already installed
3 years premium care warranty (onsite repairs)
Memory DDR4 : 8 GB / 16 GB / 32 GB / 64 GB; 2933 MHz
Motherboard: CML B460 MATX MB
PSU: 650W: ES Gold (might vary, make sure to ask)
Temps while gaming:
CPU seems to run around 63 degrees celsius or less while GPU plays around 69-73 degrees celcius.
The config mentioned above gives an average FPS to the following games:
COD:Warzone – 1080p
High Settings: Avg. 95 FPS / Low Settings: Avg. 125 FPS
Valorant – 1080p
High Settings: Avg. 210 FPS / Low Settings: Avg. 216 FPS
Dota 2 – 1080p
High Settings: Avg. 144 FPS / Low Settings: Avg. 180 FPS
Other games at 1080p
The Witcher 3 – Ultra Preset: Avg. 77 FPS
Rainbow Six Siege- Ultra Preset: Avg. 251 FPS
Cyberpunk 2077- High Preset: Avg. 50 FPS
Red dead redemption 2- High Preset: Avg. 57 FPS
I currently have the Legion 5 2020 model: R7-4800h, 1660ti, and 16GB ram. I would have gotten the desktop model if I didn’t like to switch workstations from time to time especially since it provides better performance both for work and games. I’ll update this post or make a new one should I find a better desktop but for now this might just be the best prebuilt deal for a desktop with a GTX 1660 super.
