How To Get A Promotion

You’re one of the best but someone else ends up getting a promotion. Have you ever experienced this? It feels good to be recognized for a job well done but what if your manager ends up being clueless about what you want? Not everyone will push you to take on more responsibilities at work so here are some ways and tips for you to get a promotion or get a different job role that you prefer.

1. Let your Manager or Boss know that you would like a promotion

No, it’s not going to happen just because you said it but at least they would know that you are willing to work harder, learn, and is open to more responsibilities.

2. Make your Manager’s life easier

It’s not sucking up to your boss which others might think. It’s a way for you to take on more responsibilities, learn new tasks, and be considered ready for better roles.

3. Keep a positive attitude

It’s easy to get overwhelmed with work but it’s important to show how you can manage stress and time-sensitive tasks. People with positive thinking and go-getters are typically the ones who get promoted.

4. Do your best

We tend to think that it’s enough as long as we get to finish our tasks. People who are aiming for bigger roles should always perform their best. If there’s a time limit to something then do it faster than the deadline. When there’s a task make sure to do better than what is expected.

5. Show Dedication and Commitment

They know you want more but how badly? You show is with your dedication and commitment to your work. It can be by as little as doing a free 15 to 30 minutes overtime or by continuously giving your best effort in every work you do.

6. Provide Ideas

Doing good at work and providing ideas that can help the business grow gives the impression of how much you would like to be a part of the company. It also shows your value as someone who can provide more than what other employees doesn’t.

7. Be helpful to everyone

It’s not just your Boss that you need to impress. If even your teammates or colleagues end up having a good impression of you then that definitely won’t go unnoticed by your Manager.

8. Continue learning

Don’t be stuck with just what you know. Continue acquiring new skills and knowledge that you can use to improve yourself and work. “People don’t get promoted for just doing their job really well. They get promoted by demonstrating their potential to do more.
