How To Get Approved For Citibank Credit Card

We live in a country where people are just starting to realize the benefits of having a credit card. We're not talking about simply just having a credit card so that you can easily get approved in other applications like car loans or postpaid plans. Those are fine reasons but one major reason to get a credit card is SAVINGS!

People always relate credit cards with unwanted expenses and being in debt but what others don't realize is the benefits it provides such as:

Emergency Funds - We'll not exactly your funds but it's one way of having a fallback plan in case you will need to borrow money during emergency cases.

Savings - A lot of Bank offers credit cards with great rewards such as cash rebates and promotional offers like the 5,000 worth of Nike Park GCs that I got from Citibank. I only applied for a card and used it as a means to pay for my groceries and bills and was rewarded with not just reward points but also gift certificates that I was able to use as a gift for my dad's birthday.

Other Applications - Having a credit card is a way for other companies to know that you're capable of making payments. This will be useful for future applications with Car loans, Postpaid plans, or even Mortgages.

There are others like me who even used to worry about annual membership fees but let's face it. Who pays for membership fees? I normally just ask for those to be waived whenever I see it on my statement which was easily taken care of whenever I call a bank's customer service.

How to get approved for a Citibank credit card?

First, you'll have to know what kind of card you'd like. The most practical and rewarding card for me is the "Citi Cash Back Mastercard" The benefits include:

  • Get up to 6% rebate on supermarket purchases.
  • Get up to 2% rebate on your Meralco bill payments done through Citibank Online or Citi® One Bill®.
  • All your other purchases automatically earn 0.20% rebate.
  • Save as much as P12,000 per year.
Ways to get approved:

1. You can easily get approved if you already have a credit card with other banks. The next thing you need to let Citibank know is if your annual income is at least Php180,000. If you have either one of these valid ID then you're on your way to getting approved for a credit card:
  • Government Security Insurance System ID (GSIS)
